Finally someone produced a 24-70/2.8 zoom with image stabilization: One has to give Tamron kudos for that! This extends the useful range of the Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD by 2-3 stops further into low-light shooting or simply help you avoid shake that could ruin an otherwise perfectly sharp shot – especially on sensors above 20MP.

The lower scores achieved on the DSLRs with fewer pixels is almost completely due to its lens sharpness

Nikon D750 – AF-S Nikkor 28-70mm 1:2.8D Once you hit f/4, the fall-off and vignetting is all but gone from the 28mm mark and only slightly present at 70mm. The Nikon 24mm f/1.8G has a very similar build quality as other f/1.8G modern primes.
The 17-35mm AF-S is a close second. The 35-70mm f/2.8 AF is third and has some lateral color. The 1972 35mm Nikkor-S (AI converted) was clearly the worst. f/4: The 24-70mm is clearly much better than the 28-80mm G, 18-35mm AF-D, 28-70mm AF-D and the 35mm Nikkor-S. The 17-35mm AF-S and 35-70mm f/2.8 AF-D are a close seconds.
